T4 The Frontier Golden Age · 2240–2246 Survey derived

What her era can carry. Kinetics baseline. Coil and rail accelerators, finite magazines, point defence, interceptors.

The era that fights a war. The boundary-weapon family is FOUNDED here — the lance descends from the coupling in The Quiet Mathematics aimed at a target's harmonic relationship — and is new, rare and barely understood at the close.

Survey. Instruments, sensors and boats. Armament nominal at best.

⚠ A ceiling, not a fit — what a hull of this class could carry in this era, derived from the capability ladder rather than stated for this ship. She may well carry less; she is never shown carrying more. Source: Era tier T4 — derived from the capability ladder for its era; role inferred from class and description.

The record

Class and design

A small, light, over-instrumented Centre survey sloop — a Centre science hull that rides too close to heavier ships. Crew of nine.

Mission log

• Book 3: convoy survey sloop; at the first lane-crossing rides up too close in the grain-hauler Brask's drive-wash — the funnel near-miss Ruth Ackerman defuses (chapter 4); survives two cold-lane folds across the cruise. At the Causeway, destroyed by Sundog (Quint) — a close-range kinetic holes her amidships and cuts her spine; despite Cross's attempt to talk Halloran through a keel-roll to the seam, she comes apart across the certified braid. The seam war's first casualty; crew of nine lost (chapter 27). The Causeway changes hands as her scatter cools.

Related hulls

• Brask — rides up in its drive-wash at the chapter 4 lane-crossing. • Sundog — destroys the Pellan at First Blood (chapter 27). • ISV Lodestar — flagship; Ackerman defuses the chapter 4 near-miss; Cross tries to save her at the Causeway.
