Sarah Bishop carries forward out of The Chosen Dark into Closed Sky as Lieutenant, ISV Palisade. She is one of the twelve survivors, and Book 2 runs mid-May 2350 – August 2351. Body across the book. Both hands opened across the pads during the Book 1 sending, on a wrapping cut off a maul shaft; she writes left-handed in stretches for the whole of Book 2 and is still eating left-handed a year later. The right hand goes properly mid-sending in chapter 05. By chapter 12 her hands are a measured defect: she cannot find the warm edge on the fourth pass, says out loud on Dlamini's instruction that she is the wrong instrument, and hands the marking over. By chapter 32 her right hand can hold a handset, landed in five words and never discussed.
